Several weeks ago, Melinda and I went to Lafayette for a doctor's appointment. As usual, we stopped at Kohl's because we here in CenLa don't have one of those. We perused the clearance racks, and I found a pair of dressy jean slacks that I really liked. I tried them on, and they fit great. I decided I would buy them, and when I got them to the register, I found out they only cost $9. Bonus! I was super happy about my purchase!
I finally wore those pants yesterday for a funeral. After the funeral, we took Zach to meet Jan so he could spend the rest of spring break with her. On the way to the rendezvous point, we stopped at a McDonald's to use the restroom and get a snack. I had been wearing the pants for several hours by now, and they were doing fine. I sat down on the toliet to do my "business," and this is what I saw:

I'm sorry, what? My pants are now speaking to me?!
While I appreciate the vote of confidence, I don't know that I need it from my pants. Or maybe I do. I'm not sure. These particular pants happen to be 2 sizes smaller than I used to wear, so that's something. But wow. A pep talk in my pants.
If you don't happen to have encouraging statements in your pants, know that God feels this way about you, too! Just read Psalm 139 and see how special you are!
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:13-18 NIV)
You see, you ARE gorgeous because He made you special. He made you just the way you are and decided the world needed one of you. His thoughts concerning you are good thoughts - thoughts of love and affection. HE thinks you are gorgeous! That's all that matters! That's way better than a pep talk in your pants!
