Lost and Found

Have you ever been lost? I mean like really, really lost. Maybe you remember getting separated from a parent in a grocery store or Walmart as a child. Or perhaps, before the advent of GPS, you got very lost trying to drive somewhere. It is a very hopeless feeling. You get scared and anxious.

I heard someone say recently that the worst thing in the world is being lost. But even worse than that is being lost and no one is looking for you. When you got lost while shopping, I bet your parents were frantically searching for you. Being lost while driving is a little different - especially before cell phones! Back in those days, you'd be hard to find if anything happened!

I was watching a cop show a while back that included a story of a young lady who had been kidnapped. It turned out that she had been taken into a sex trafficing ring. The ring had been found, but the particular girl that the authorities were looking for was not there. One of the other young ladies, who was terribly traumatized said, "She's lucky. Someone is looking for her."

Friend, do you know someone is looking for YOU? Yes, you. If you feel lost in this world, if you feel like you are drowning in a sea of horrible circumstances, you have a Rescuer who knows exactly where you are and who is waiting for you. His name is Jesus. In Luke 15, Jesus tells three stories of things or people that were lost and then found. Go read them. But to illustrate our point, Luke 15:8-10 says:

"Or what woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found the silver coin I lost!’ I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”

Jesus is comparing Himself to that widow. He has lit a lamp. He is doing a full sweep and search to find you. And when He finds you, He will rejoice like nobody's business! That's how much you are loved. That's how much you are valued. Don't for one single moment think that no one cares where you are or what you are doing. Jesus is pursuing you to find you, rescue you, and rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). All you must do is call to Him, and He will come running. Be lost no more, loved of God. Be found.
